Q Fix in 8.6 BLK
The new and improved .300 BLK?

The marriage of caliber and firearm platform can lead to exceptional performance, and few combinations exemplify this better than the 8.6BLK and the Q Fix rifle. This pairing, designed by the same company, appears destined to enhance each other's unique attributes, much like historic pairings such as the .45 ACP with the 1911 or the 5.56 with the AR platform.
While some may argue that the 8.6BLK lacks military application, it’s worth noting that Russia has incorporated it into their arsenal for covert operations, highlighting its suitability for deep cover scenarios where stealth is crucial.
Owning multiple 8.6BLK rifles, I can confidently assert that the Q Fix is the finest in this caliber. The 8.6BLK cartridge is designed to deliver impressive kinetic energy while remaining remarkably quiet—akin to “faint footsteps in the woods” yet striking with freight train force. Developed by the same team behind the 300BLK, it provides a more powerful option while maintaining magazine compatibility with AR10 platforms.
To appreciate the Q Fix rifle, it’s essential to understand its revolutionary design. Traditional bolt-action rifles often bear resemblance to the Remington 700, a design that has remained largely unchanged since 1962. The Fix, however, integrates modern materials and engineering, taking cues from the AR15 to create a modular, customizable, and ergonomic rifle.
One standout feature of the Fix is its one-piece receiver, which reduces weight while enhancing stability. The stock is both functional and aesthetically pleasing, offering quick adjustments for length of pull and a unique wedge-lock design that ensures a rigid lock-up that improves with use. The rifle's compatibility with standard SR25 or AR10 magazines further enhances its practicality, allowing for capacities ranging from 5 to 25 rounds.
The Fix also boasts a reduced bolt throw of 45 degrees for quicker follow-up shots and a smooth action, thanks to its rail-supported bolt. Users can easily change barrels and calibers without needing a gunsmith, adding to the rifle’s versatility. The clear anodized finish not only enhances durability but also gives it a distinctive appearance.
During testing, we achieved impressive accuracy with the Fix, successfully hitting targets at distances of 450 to 600 yards. Consistent ammunition is key, and I recommend using Callaway Ballistics’ 8.6BLK for its low standard deviation, which is crucial for accuracy at long ranges. Despite common perceptions, subsonic rounds can achieve sub-MOA accuracy, particularly with the right setup.
I paired the Fix with a Leupold MK5HD 2-10x scope, which complements the rifle’s capabilities well, offering clarity and elevation adjustments suited for the 8.6’s trajectory. Additionally, I equipped it with an Arca rail for tripod compatibility and tested various suppressors, including the CGS Hekate and the Diligent Defense DTF, for optimal sound reduction.
Ultimately, the 8.6BLK shines in the lightweight Q Fix, delivering significant energy on target with minimal recoil. Its slim design makes it easy to carry, while its performance is nothing short of exceptional for a bolt-action rifle. The Fix, in my opinion, is the best rifle for the 8.6 caliber, and I’m thrilled with how it has performed in this configuration. Special thanks to Piece of Mind Guns for their support; their knowledgeable staff makes them a top choice for Q products.
